My mother passed away January 5, 2010 from a 25 month battle with Stage IV Lung Cancer (non-smoking). About a month and a half before that, she and I talked about making a video of her life and her love for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was already quite weak at that point, but miraculously, she livened up and was able to do the whole thing with energy and clarity of thought.
It was completed in time to be shown at a family gathering right after the night of the viewing, the funeral was the next morning. You can imagine the impact it made as no one else knew I was working on this project.
This video has touched our lives in a tremendous way since. It was a great way to leave her love and legacy with us and I highly recommend doing something similar with your own loved-ones. One of the things you want the most once they are gone is to just hear their voice talking to you. This video is absolutely priceless. (For those wondering about the scale of this project, it was easily over 100 hours of work because I went through 30 family albums and scanned about 600 photos on top of everything else involved. But it's so worth it!)
