A little bit of info about the Stained glass Light Box :
London-based artist Charles Uzzell Edwards, who goes by the name “Pure Evil” created a pop art double-exposure print that combined the faces of Audrey Hepburn and Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi titled “Double Exposure”. A prolific traveller, he says that he had always been transfixed “like a moth” by the light coming through church stained glass windows.
Collaborating with craftworker Annahita Hessami, Edwards decided to redesign and rework his piece with stained glass, choosing to use mouth blown glass as the medium. Mouth blown (or handmade) glass is a very unique material; no two panes are the same. Each piece has its own little imperfection – striation, bubbles and variations in colour density, which leads to a more interesting and charismatic end product.
The result of all this careful cutting and placing was a beautiful rose masterpiece of mouth blown glass illuminated within a salvaged and repurposed London Underground Light Box found by Edwards himself.
