Winter Fly Fishing for Smallmouth Bass with a Switch Rod will surely keep your casting arm in shape but the catching is often slow. The weather seemed too good to pass up an opportunity to hit the river on the second day of 2011. One small bass and two small chub minnows came to hand after taking a #18 Mr. Rapidan Parachute. These fish were surface feeding on BWO's in water which was roughly 12 inches deep. The Switch Rod is a Scott A3 1106/4 with a Ross CLA Reel and a Scientific Angler prototype Switch Rod fly line.
