A slice in time of a certain ground
Data of approx. 10.000m2 of surface between Road Gorenjska, Street of Komandant Stane, railway line Ljubljana - Kranj and Street of Barle in a small town Medvode.
The story begins in 1908, when a stone foundation for a small linseed oil press was built. In the 1920s the foundry was bought by Franc Medič, wholesale merchant and industrialist. He designed a successful factory of paints and varnishes, which was taken from him and nationalized after the Second World War. In the next two decades the factory developed into Color Medvode, one of the biggest paint manufacturers in former Yugoslavia. Until 1990 it was a second home for many employees and had a strong impact on the development of the town. In the times of transition it did not survive transformation to capitalism, and was bought by its main competitor. The land was sold to the company, Spar, all of the old buildings were demolished, and a large parking lot with a new complex of shops opened its doors in October 2015.
