The Grouch came correct with the line up for this years dopest underground concert tour. With Los Rakas opening stage presence & energy, the crowd, though majority were not Spanish speaking, vibed and interacted with the duo, riding along with every beat and constant movement they expressed, the energy was conveyed throughout the sold out venue. Eligh, came through lyrically assaulting audiences with his verbal motorboat, 'tis captivating how many words can flow from one to another, yet leave you hanging on every other lyric waiting for the connecting bridge to the punch-flow. Brother Ali's sense of humor and poetic lyrics struck screaming fans. "Ho ho hoo, meeerry Christmas." exclaimed the preacher. His presence spoke to the soul, on some, self love - appreciate you and your life and loved ones type hype. Uplifting vibes all around. Grouch comes out on stage, the crowd goes nuts. For about an hour and half, the audience embarked on a journey of positive vibrating rhythm tactically provided by a living, breathing legend, mentally cultivating the venue, into shock & awe with necessary simplicities for effective underground hip-hop appreciation. Dj Fresh's performance, crawling under his setup, hands in his shoes, while djing? Dope. Not to forget Picasso, the artist. It was only right Grouch invited Eligh back out to share the stage and cooperatively bless fans with a handful of collaborations the two have mastered. The show over all was dope. Photos here:
Los Rakas invited me along on the west coast portion of the tour to document and acquire footage for near future projects, I shook a lot of hands, exchange courtesies, and left with much more.
