The periodic military escalations around Karabakh have been causing human losses and inciting outbursts of hate speech and further alienation between Armenians and Azerbaijanis. It is those who deviate from the national trend, who often have tasted the bitterness of nationalism the most.
Gunel Movlud Imanova is an Azerbaijani journalist, born in Karabakh, who was displaced during the 90's war. Because of her professional activities, she had to leave Azerbaijan and move to Tbilisi, Georgia. Here she met an ethnic Armenian journalist - Edita Badasyan, who was born and lives in Tbilisi. Both outspoken, they had to face new challenges and controversy over their right to choose a friend.
