'The Process and the Hanging' is a film about Dutch painter Martijn Schuppers. Martijn Schuppers reveals himself in his work as a fundamental painter. His wilful way of working in which he attacks the skin of the paint, attracted attention both in the Netherlands and abroad. In the fall of 2005 he painted a showpiece for the building of the Council for the Judiciary in The Hague, Netherlands and was his biggest painting so far. In this documentary the realisation of a canvas of 9 by 4 meters is to be seen. The documentary is split in two parts. The first part ‘The Process’ provides a captivating impression of the way Martijn Schuppers works. The second part, ‘The Hanging’ shows the way professionals are installing the work.
