Safet Zec - The power of painting
More than one hundred and thirty works (oils, temperas, drawings in pencil, sketches and preparatory studies, large canvases and small paintings) of the Bosnian artist Safet Zec displayed at Correr Museum from May 8th until July 18th 2010. Some of the works presented have never been on public display before.
Zec art not only goes back to classical ancestors (Tintoretto, Palma the Younger, Caravaggio and Freud), but shows also the eager studies of a solitary researcher combined with a craze for experimentation. His works express the reflection on the tragedy of a people and the endless possibilities of painting that can participate in both their suffering, and provide poetical interpretations of an everyday life.
