This video is one of 2 video projections that explores the majesty and primordial power of nature - in order to arouse appreciation and awe for nature and spark creative contemplation in audiences. The extreme features of the Cantabrian landscape tell a story of early earth history – the time when great masses of magma solidified to become solid rock, when earth plates pushed themselves into each other, when layers of rock towered up to become mountains or break off into oceans, leaving behind steep harsh cliffs. This piece does not point to a specific environmental cause, but it rather speaks to emotion and passion for nature in general, unlocking an ancient sense of freedom and awe.
In this video I am tracing the relief of the Cantabrian mountains on a slide projection of mountain imagery – to create a rugged line drawing – the sum of all mountain outlines. The second video traces shorelines - to receive a drawing that creates a an idea of the rocky and original Cantabrian coast.
