Recent typhoon hit Batanes, northernmost island of the Philippines. While zero casualties have been reported in spite of the onslaught of super typhoon Ferdie (international name: Meranti--strongest recorded typhoon this year), damage is estimated at PhP 200M with access to clean drinking water still an immediate need for our Ivatan brothers and sisters.
Waves For Water in partnership with Land Bank of the Philippines and the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation has now provided all six barangays of the island municipality of Sabtang, Batanes with access to clean water through a series of training demos and the distribution of portable water filtration systems. Each clean water system can provide potable water to up to a hundred people in a day for five to ten years by eliminating sediments, visible particles, cysts or bacteria to pass through.
