“Sýr” is a video and photography project aiming to show how people react when someone takes them on a picture.
The final outcome is a 10-minute video which looks like a social experiment developed from March till May 2010 in Prague, Czech Republic.
The excerpts are taken from shootings during different parts of the day and the week and the inconscious protagonists are people of different ages and habits using the metros and trams of the city.
Thanks to an operator with an hidden camera, the travellers’ reactions were recorded while the camera shoot them. On the final editing the still and moving images are put together, each on half a screen.
Sýr corresponds to the English "cheese"- the word someone pronounces when smiling for a picture.
Thanks for the important help to Signe Tørå Karsrud, Thomas Laurance and Sibila Estruch.
