The video takes you to Sodo Ethiopia (circa 300 km south of the capital Addis Abeba), where local communities have developed a reforestation project hand in hand with the NGO World Vision. Active participation and self-determination of local communities are the project’s main focus.
People living in five communities around Mount Damota are directly responsible for the project's implementation. Its goal is to protect the heavily degraded forest at the slopes of the Mount Damota and to plant new trees supporting the ecosystem's long-term restoration in the region.
The project is an outstanding example of community driven reforestation, offering significant social, biodiversity and carbon sequestration benefits.
