Routes Festival was organised by Refugee Aid Serbia (RAS), a community organisation, operating in downtown Savamala, who distribute food, clothes and other essential items to refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. Their aim is to ensure dignity to the people we work with as well as to the local environment. They believe raising awareness to the refugee situation in Serbia and helping the broader Belgradian population get involved in the issue will help release some of the pressure that the neighbourhood around the main bus station has been put under over the past several months.
To address some of these issues, RAS held a festival on the 1st of October, supporting there communities to discover each other through cultural performances, discussions and workshops.
The aim of the festival was to create a space for improved understanding and awareness raising between the two populations; local communities and refugees, asylum seekers and migrants
