36.5 / a durational performance with the sea
Oerol Festival, West Terschelling, The Netherlands
June 10-19, 2016
The durational video (12 hr, 46 min) was screened by the water for 10 days.
New York-based artist Sarah Cameron Sunde invited the public to walk out to the water's edge and stand in one spot facing the sea, for a period of time determined by each participant, at least long enough to feel the water rising (or receding) on their bodies.
On June 15, she guided groups of people to the water's edge every hour for the full tidal cycle.
Made in collaboration with filmmaker Jonas de Witte, artist / producers John Del Gaudio and Frank Bloem, composer Joshua Dumas, and Terschelling's Oerol Festival. Thanks to: Waddenvereniging, Bank Giro Loteriji FONDS. Kees LeSuis, Arjan Berkhuysen, Pier Vellinga, David Chassé, Peer Pheifer,
