Brief description: This movie shows two of our conditioned place preference (CPP) boxes. During this phase of the study, the conditioned mice are allowed to move freely between the chambers. The chamber in which the mice chose to spend the most time was the one that had been associated with a food reward.
Further details: Each box has three chambers, which can be connected by opening the doors between the gray antechamber in the center, and either of the conditioning chambers. In this study, we have conditioned mice to associate one of the chambers with the delivery of a sweet, fatty liquid diet through an intraoral cannula. The cannula, which is described in greater detail in the caption to the Self Administration movie, is visible here by the orange protective sheath.
