CRC static cycle challenge in aid of Children in Need
Back in November 2010 Chain Reaction Cycles staff took part in a static cycle challenge in aid of Children in Need, aiming to cycle 1000 miles between the hours of 6am-10pm.
The response from the staff was overwhelming, and with CRC agreeing to donate £1 for every mile cycled by the staff, the target distance was exceeded and a total of 1610.25 miles was notched up.
At the end of a hard day of riding, CRC staff managed to raise an amazing £4188.68. The company also held a non-uniform day which contributed to the total.
On the way to raising the huge total there were some excellent individual performances, including Peter Lily (Customer Services) who managed to maintain an average speed of 43mph.
There was also the highly-anticipated Managers race where Michael Cowan, Barry Dunn, Michael Dougan, Pat O’Hare, Steven Laird, Damien Duggan and Martin Coogan fought it out. The crowds gathered and cheered them on, with Michael Dougan coming out the winner, Barry and Steven finishing joint second and Damien coming in third place.
The atmosphere throughout the day was buzzing and everyone put in a massive effort to make everything go smoothly.
A special thank you must go to Orla Hogg, Barry Dunn and Susi Kinley, who put in a lot of time and effort to make the event possible.
