Tracks (2004-2005). 14-foot paper train of handmade abaca paper and steel wire, violinist, vocalist. 40 min (original performance: 3 hours); 1 min clip. [Manifest 05, Chicago, IL]
This was a re-staging of a 2004 performance, where audience members contributed stories of personal trips and journeys, which accumulated over time via improvised sound on the violin. The stories continue to be carried through sound, while the visual imprint remains as a handmade paper train.
Blurb: The third time that a violinist appears in Chicago, dragging a handmade paper train and playing dozens of improvised stories about journeys. This time, she is outdoors, on a bridge that does not span a body of water: the 11th Street Bridge, south of the Loop.
Performed at Manifest 05 in Chicago in 2005. Vocalist: Shana Harvey, Camera: Dan Schwarzlose, Editor: Brian Kallies.
