To everthing there is a good side and a bad side, or "kushata kwe zwimwe, kunaka kwe zwimwe" as says the headman of a group of artisanal gold miners of Chazuka in Manica district.
Looking for placer gold in colluvial deposists, these miners work in old irrigation channels. They do realise that they pollute the rivers, and hence make proposals on how this could be curbed. Still, they also ponder about all the benefits they get from the gold mining.
The video was produced as a participatory research tool, in a collaborative effort of the Centre for Sustainable Development for Natural Resources, Ministerio para a Coordenação da Acção Ambiental, the Provincial Directorate for Mining and Energie of Manica, and the Miners Association of Munhena.
