BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour 03/11/2016. Nura Aabe is a British Somali woman whose son Zackie has autism. There's no word for autism in the Somali community. Nura's family wanted her to hide Zackie away and not talk about him. He started to speak at age 7 and ABA has been one of the tools that helped him to learn. Zackie is now going to college.
Nura has also set up an organisation called Autism Independence and is now researching the condition as a PHD student at Bristol Uni. The interview is the first 8 minutes of the programme.
