10 years ago, I shot an abstract sci-fi short called "9".
In it, I explored vast empty spaces, evoking the lower decks of an ancient spacecraft, drifting across intergalactic space. Abandoned and forgotten, but maybe not completely devoid of presence.
For the sounddesign I used analog synths, found-sound and self-recorded samples.

"Such a cohesive way of bringing together a series of images, using them as textures to evolving soundscapes. The audio had an upfront and personal space. or nearfield ambience. While most of the images depicted images of spaces that would have long hard reverberation. This inverted dichotomous tension seems to work - if just in an ironic sense, to provoke an unsettling imbalance. However, if there was to be live action with spatially correct foley, this would clearly stand out from the music bed, tying the scenes together. It is the feeling that this live action could occur at any moment that heightens the tension further. On reaching the finish and no live action occured, is it because we the viewer simply weren't given the opportunity in the right places? You have achieved the 'Abandoned and forgotten, but maybe not completely devoid of presence'."
