As we traveled from Reykjavik to Vik, the contrasts of terrain and otherworldly beauty of Iceland overwhelmed us and presented a problem. We were there to shoot an intimate film about a couple on their wedding day…not a travel film.
Normally rain on wedding day would not be part of anyone’s plan. However, when you are standing on a lava flow at the foot of a glacier in Iceland, rain seems like a natural part of the adventure. Watching Mary and Christophe holding an umbrella, looking more at each other than the breathtaking surroundings. Seeing them experience this adventure with their friends and family, the answer to our problem came into focus. The constant in this ever-changing landscape was the looks and glances exchanged between Mary and Christophe. The love, laughter and sense of adventure they share with their friends and family is the heart of the story.
The ending time-lapse shot was captured with a Sony a7sII rolling while we packed our bags loaded our gear and checked out of our hotel. It was 3am when we wrapped that shot, packed the camera and drove 3 hours through the night to catch our flight home.
