Back when people were all atwitter about Dark Side of the Wizard of Oz phenomena, I heard of another Pink Floyd synchronicity, but this time involving "Echoes," the epic second side of Pink Floyd's album Meddle, and the last act of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. I was never a big fan of the Dark Side of the Wizard of Oz combination, as I found the supposed synchronicities to be a real long reach. By comparison, in 2001: Echoes, I found an amazing synchronicity between visual and aural themes, as well as the obvious synchronicity in the nearly exact time matches between the music and that last chapter. I've since combined the two for public discussion, so that film buffs and Pink Floyd fans can debate whether this was a secret soundtrack for the movie. Either way, I find it much more enjoyable than the avante garde choices used in the film itself. 2001: A Space Odyssey is © 1968 Turner Entertainment Company. "Echoes" from the album Meddle is © 1971 Pink Floyd.
