A wealthy, elegant child of privilege is hardly the image of rebellion. But in Iran, fashion is politics. In Young Global Hot Shots Iran we follow 34 year old fashion designer Shadi Parand in her work sphere as well as private arena.
Shadi’s story encompasses the recent history of Iran. Born during the reign of the last Shah, while packing to move to Shadi’s old house, Shadi and her husband Mehdi tell about what Iran was like during that period as well as the days of the revolution and the ensuing Islamic republic.
They disclose why despite the difficulties they chose to remain in their home country. An evening scene with Shadi’s mother, who once ran the most famous couture house in Iran, her three year old son and other family members, reveal how important it is for Shadi to be with her family, and how she fears for the future of her son.
