This is the third of several trailers and promotional reels for The Reporters Inc.'s upcoming new documentary series about wrongful convictions in the U.S., "The Innocent Convicts."
Trailer #3 focuses on the case of Mike Hansen. In 2004, Mike was separated from the mother of his four-month-old daughter, Avryonna. He was staying in the Alexandria, Minnesota basement of friends, caring for Avry while her mother was at work; he awoke to find Avry unresponsive on May 2, 2004.
Mike was convicted of killing Avry but went to prison insisting upon his innocence. Several years later, leaders of the Innocence Project of Minnesota began looking into his claims; they consulted with several forensic pathologists who began to question the conclusions of the medical examiner who testified at the trial on behalf of the prosecution.
This 12-minute video is a condensed version of the story The Reporters Inc. plans to tell about Hansen's case in "The Innocent Convicts."
