2nd recorded instance of an Anna's Hummingbird in Pennsylvania. This bird was almost captured & banded by researchers last week. I think they'll try again. Pennsylvania birders have been fortunate enough to have a few ornithologists here who have undertaken a long-term mark-recapture study of vagrant hummingbirds. Turns out that some of the same vagrant hummingbirds return to the same houses in Pennsylvania in subsequent years! Surprisingly, these off-course birds still have opportunities to pass on their genes.
