This documentary, developed with specific funding from the Scottish Government Equalities Unit, traces the journey of the Learning Village which took place at Netherton Community Centre, Glasgow, in April 2016.
In 2009, ASC and OFRI launched the Social Capital World Forum (SCWF), as a space where social capital could be put into practice to enhance community well-being and resilience and achieve lasting impact. In 2013, the SCWF piloted a Learning Village with partners from Scotland, Austria and Sweden – as a ‘hothouse’ for the co-creation of solutions to bridge the growing divide between the people who make policy and those whose lives are affected by it. In 2016, SCWF obtained EU for Citizens and Scottish Government funding to host 3 more Learning Villages in Glasgow, Gothenburg and Dornbirn to create a ‘replicable model’ that would enable communities anywhere to tap into local strength by hosting local Learning Villages.
