Lev has been "tumbling" for a while, since he figured out how to sit himself up a few weeks ago. But this weekend he figured out how to get up on all fours, as seen in this video. From there it was a very fast evolution to crawling forward with his arms and then hopping forward with his legs trailing. It's actually pretty incredible to watch, and it strikes me as harder to do than commando style, which he has skipped entirely. He's now pulling himself up to stand against everything he can reach - I found him in his crib this morning, pictures to come - so I wonder if he's not trying to walk sooner than we're ready for. He can cover a lot of ground, if we build a trail of toys across the living room he's not shy about crawling from toy to toy stopping at the one he wants, usually the mirror, the soccer ball, or a penny paperback we left on the floor.
He also unfortunately has learned the joy of ripping pages out of books. If you every find yourself wondering who you borrowed "The Poet" from, and your copy is missing some of the title pages, it's ours.
