Vassilis Lazarides, born on April 10th 1963, is one of those very remarkable, for the moment still quite unknown and very skilled luthiers, living and working in Athens. At first he constructed traditional instruments such as bouzoukis, oud, pontic and Istanbul liras and renaissance lutes. Vassilis participates in guitar exhibitions and festivals in many places of Greek (Vyssani in Ioannina, Veria, Ermoupoli in Syros, Trikala, and Kavala. Vassilis has now become a regular lecturer at the national guitar competition in Greece. Vassilis analyzed the art of many great luthiers. By taking up the maintenance and functional repair of many instruments he had the opportunity to watch from within, how some of the most important instrument builders work. Vassilis Lazarides’ guitars have travelled to many European countries and now they are part of important collectors and flamenco guitar soloist musical assets. When talking to him one can easily feel his motivation and enthusiasm for making very high end guitars. Vassilis his guitars are entirely handmade using very traditional techniques.
Vassilis built this brand new Reyes model specially for La Sonanta. As all of Vassilis his flamenco guitars, she is completely handmade, luxurious decorated and projecting very easily. Action is very low whithout buzzing, the neck is flat and thin making her very easy to play. She has very firm crispy basses and very refined brilliant, sweet trebles. The German spruce used for the top is outstanding, the cypress is first grade and finished in very light colored French Polish, a special rosette with mother of pearl inlays, maximum precision deluxe Alessi tuners, body with very charming decorations…a very beautiful, musical and professional flamenco guitar.
