Tupperware Theater presents in collaboration with The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, Anne & Que, Pet Prisoner
Excerpt of the play by Jana Leo
I run a workshop with architecture students. On April 1st 2016, we visit New State Prison in East Jutland, Denmark, known for having the best prison living conditions in the world. We reflect on incarceration and question current models. Then, students of architecture became builders, thinkers and actors. The original script was divided on scenes and each scene of the play was assigned to a couple of students (the original play is performed by two actors, here the play is performed by 20 actors) I work with each couple in creating a form for the text. Students built their set for their acts and performed on their constructions. After the workshop, the play was presented in the gallery.

This project has been possible due to the vision of Anne Rome, former Cooper Union student of mine and now director of the first year program, at the Royal Danish Academy. Her enthusiasm, energy and resolute character made possible a workshop on questioning the role of the institution toward the individual, so architecture students reflect on what institutions are when designing and constructing institutions.
