The title refers to a speculative theory of quantum cosmology.
It describes a possible approach for the development of the Universe out of nothingness. At the smallest possible scale, little bubbles of space and time can form spontaneously. While most of the bubbles from the quantum foam would dissipate immediately, others could be whole mini-verses, some of which inflate to large-scale macro-universes.
Likewise, in the creative process, ideas are brought out of an “imaginary space” into existence. What is this space about? Why do some ideas burst, while others inflate until they materialise? Is there a space of “nothingness” complementing all existing “thingness”, just as there is always a negative space inherent in every positive form? We investigate a space that was indeed "thought of" in advance, but whose ultimate complexity—brought about through the combination of individual chaotic elements—could not have been anticipated.
