Turn up the volume! Ventura Deep Six record breaking 202 mile ocean, 6 man relay swim, swimming 24/7 for 4 1/2 days. Ventura to Santa Barbara to La Jolla Cove.
On September 16th, 2010, the Ventura Deep Six consisting of Mike Shaffer, Jim McConica, Kurt Baron, Tom Ball, John Chung, and Jim Neitz set out to surpass the existing 78-mile world swimming relay standard. Switching every hour, the relay started at Ventura's Harbor Cove Beach, then heading north to the Santa Barbara Pier. After a turn near the end of the SB Pier, the team continued south to La Jolla Cove in San Diego. Which was completed on Monday, September 20th 2010. The Ventura Deep Six relay team had surpassed the existing 78-mile world standard on September 17th at approxamately 11:45pm then continued south an additional 124 miles to La Jolla.
