We asked a #lifelongthrift volunteer, “Why do you #volunteer?” The second in our series of Volunteer Stories, Dannie tells us what inspires her to volunteer and how she found a second home in the store. ❤️ #lifelongvolunteer
"My name is Dannie and I volunteer at the Lifelong Thrift store. I found Lifelong when I first moved here to Seattle. I walked into Lifelong and asked if I could volunteer here. They embraced me with open arms. I am excited to learn that I have done 50 hours of volunteering. One of the unique things about Lifelong is how inclusive it is to all people. The store is open arms, so if someone walks off the street, if someone comes in, whatever place they are, we provide them a place to be. I like working in the clothing area, because that is where I get all my clothing. I also really like working with different people that come in there and helping them find things they are looking for. I feel proud knowing that everything I do here at the thrift store supports Lifelong’s cause. There’s nothing better than working when you don’t have to work. There’s a sense of gratitude, appreciation, fulfillment that you get from volunteering - volunteering your time, and working with people, and having that a part of your life."
