I hope and pray that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with friends and family! Thanksgiving is an annual celebration, but the act of giving thanks should be a daily practice for the follower of Jesus. In Ephesians 1.15-16 Paul writes, "For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers." Paul continuously gave thanks to God for His work of transformation in the Christians at Ephesus. Paul highlights two marks of the follower of Christ that ground His thanksgiving-faith and love! These two actions are the fruit of the Holy Spirit at work in the life of the Christian. The report of the Spirit's work amongst God's people moved Paul to give thanks! When we see the church living out the gospel by trusting in Jesus and loving one another it is because God is at work amongst His people! May we practice thanksgiving everyday as we mediate on the gospel and observe the fruit of the Spirit in the lives of God's people at MCC. Let's encourage this fruit and rejoice when we see it!
