Work inspired by the myth of Atreus and Thyeste, The Twin Brothers addresses, through the theme of the fratricidal struggle, the question of acceptance of the Other, despite the inherent strife that arises from its existence next to our own. This co-existing entity, so similar yet so different; this immortal double, the Soul.
How can one accept to share power, love and recognition from the Mother? How does one stay ahead and expel the other. How does one become the sole recipient of love and acknowledgement and remain its main point of focus? Where and when does this fight start, which is fueled by resentment and revenge and what are the limits of this cruelty?
The Twin Brothers, a dreamlike metaphor of our inner animal and most archaic instincts, entails the enjoyment felt in cruelty and our ability to reveal and accept it, thus enabling a perhaps undeserved catharsis. Acting as a cinematographic book, the Twin Brothers video proposes a liberating and introspective reflection where urban night and inner space intersect and interact to better reflect the questions and impulses inherent to the human condition.
