In 2016, River Restoration Adventures for Tomorrow (RRAFT) partnered with American Rivers and various other local organizations to connect communities to the Gunnison River. Over the course of the summer and fall, RRAFT worked with over 50 youth from Delta and Cedaredge High Schools, Peace of Adventure, the Adaptive Sports Center, the Colorado Canyons Association, the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership, and the BLM to implement several river conservation projects along the lower Gunnison River. RRAFT also worked with Rig to Flip Media to film and create this video.
In the film, students are helping to cut and clear Russian Olive trees - a harmful invasive species that overtakes riparian areas and crowds out native plants.
