Junior Achievement of Southern California was recently honored at Bank of the West’s inaugural Philanthropy Awards celebration, as a finalist in the Team Member Commitment category. The Team Member Commitment Award recognizes a nonprofit organization in honor of a Bank of the West team member whose leadership has significantly advanced the organization’s mission and inspired fellow team members.
JA received this award, and a $5,000 cash grant, in honor of Richard Davis, Los Angeles Executive Vice President for Bank of the West. Mr. Davis has been an active member of JA of Southern California’s Board of Directors since 1994; under his executive leadership, Bank of the West has become one of Junior Achievement’s strongest allies in the fight against financial illiteracy. Mr. Davis continues to be a great champion of our mission, ensuring Bank of the West’s annual sponsorship of Junior Achievement programs, and rallying his team members to volunteer in-classroom for JA and raise funds for our organization via the JA Inspiration Bowl.
In the last four years alone, Mr. Davis rallied his employees to raise over $550,000 for Junior Achievement, which has provided the funds for JA to provide some 13,600 K-12 students with our targeted financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness programs.
