In 2010, Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes held a Bullying Video Contest as part of their Legal Lives program. This is the winning video created by teacher, Genevieve Berretta and featuring Nairan St. Phard and Jeremiah Hyde, who were fifth grade students at P.S. 119.
Legal Lives reaches approximately 60,000 students in over 300 classrooms across Brooklyn, discussing topics including drugs, Internet safety and Cyber bullying. The goal of the program is to prevent juvenile delinquency by encouraging interactive learning through role playing and group discussions.
In addition to the Brooklyn DA's office bullying prevention efforts, the Department of Education has created Respect for All, an initiative to combat bullying and harassment based on ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and other characteristics.
A special thanks to Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes for supplying this video.
