The Maryland Department of Human Resources will implement a youth engagement initiative to improve permanency outcomes for older youth. This initiative will include youth voice in addressing issues related to practice, policy and decision making. Maryland’s youth engagement model will be developed through a process of researching best practices; assessing current services, creating a resource guide of services for foster children; and tracking the project’s process and outcomes. The project aims to improve the number of youth who exit the system with permanent connections and the number of youth who exit the system with the skills necessary to be self sufficient.
