Long-time resident and community historian Robbie Jones discusses the rites of passage program for African American youth called “Visions and Images” that she developed with her late husband. It took place in the Thelma Terry Building between 1998-2012, mentoring youth personally and professionally. She also founded the African American Parent Support Group. They have held festivals like “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child”, one of the first cultural festivals at the park. Jones considers the park an excellent resource for the community, in that it also allows the community to be with one another.
