The voice of BBC Radio 2's Country Music programmes in the 1970s and 1980s, and BBCTV's Wembley Festival coverage, David Allan, is your host for the inaugural Hotdisc Country Music Awards.
Hotdisc has just completed 18 years as Europe's Number 1 Country Music Promotional service.
With a network of hundreds of DJs throughout Europe and beyond, the weekly Hotdisc Top 40 chart is put together exclusively by the DJs who rate each song on the monthly Hotdisc CD on merit, irrespective of whether an act is on a big label or not. The only criteria is the quality of the music.
Similarly these awards are given to acts who have delivered quality music in 2016, and as well as the eight awards given out, in the programme we count down the 10 most popular songs of the year.
Featuring the likes of Denny Strickland, Holly Norman, Brenda Burch, Lynne Taylor Donovan, Aaron Watson, Matt Stillwell, Billy Yates, Hicks, Leslie Cours Mather, Kathy Crinion, Jackie Storrar, Clint Bradley and a host of other British, Irish and International artists who all made their mark in Europe this year.
