After much anticipation (youtu.be/9v4a6Wz3tDw?hd=1), Highway Gimps returned to Tommy's Tavern on Friday, November19, 2010.
Being filmed as part of a much larger Highway Gimps project, Andy, Alex and Russell played their newer songs alongside the long time fan favorites that make up their 2009 lo-fi classic "Tape." In the performance featured here, Highway Gimps play one of their oldest numbers - "Farewell."
This performance of "Farewell" has no color correction, sound correction, B-roll insertion or edit of any kind - I had no intention on releasing this in this form, but the performance is too good to suppress. It's Highway Gimps in the raw.
The Eno of light & fog, Jay Jach, out-did himself on this one. The tripped out lighting scheme builds to the climactic ending - Russell knocks it out, Andy lets off a scream and Alex drives it home.
There were many concerts on November 19, 2010, but on that night Highway Gimps were the best band in the world. By far. See for yourself.
