The story Juxtaposition by Alp Mortal was written to highlight the alarming upward trend in the number of new HIV+ cases being reported in London - a safe sex fable, if you will. However, the story was not written to demonise unsafe sexual practices, merely to highlight the known risks. Whether an individual practices safe sex or not, it is a personal responsibility; the story only seeks to remind us all of the potential dire consequences.
In Juxtaposition, Emile is drawn to Ben like a moth to the flame. An attraction that has fatal consequences for the young and naive Emile.

The plan was to make a book trailer for the story, and the search began for a piece of original video-based artwork to use in the project. That search led us to Eulogy Media and Hal Sinden.
We needed music and we found a piece called 'Boat Floating', composed by Puddle of Infinity [sourced from the Youtube audio library of copywrite free music].

We also needed a voice to narrate the piece. We had worked with Roy Allen on the short film Tonight It's You, so we had no hesitation in inviting Roy to be our narrator.
The script for the book trailer morphed into something very different to that which we had planned - so now we have a piece of digital art based on words+music +images, which is, we think, a lot more powerful than the book trailer that we had first envisaged. Juxtaposition - an abstraction still stands as a book trailer - the words spoken by Roy are taken from the story - but in collaborating with Roy and Hal, we believe we have discovered something entirely original in the mix.
