Banished by his brothers, Yusuf arrives in Egypt as a slave. Inspired by Sufi interpretations and practices, the piece unfolds the story of Yusuf /Joseph as shared among the Abrahamic religions. "Yusuf's" is a music-theatre piece about identity and power, faith and love, boundaries and transcendence.
The international ensemble of SINAI Orchestral Theatre in Berlin unfolds the story through a rich stage language, combining songs, spoken English verse and intense physicality. The musical compositions merge oriental spiritual sounds of the Middle East with western polyphony.
Premiere on the 18th of November 2016 at Villa Elisabeth, Berlin.
