Torre Girona
Music by Gabriel Malancioiu
Alejandro Castillo Vega - bass clarinet
The Casa Girona chapel houses the supercomputer Mare Nostrum, one of the strongest in Europe, with the mission of researching and developing information technologies for scientific progress. The house and gardens of Casa Girona was originally ordered by the famous banker, political statesman and patron of the arts Agrafel Manuel Girona in the late 19th century. Today, the main building, the chapel, and the area of the garages and stables are all that are left standing but they have been recently restored.

Barcelona was one of the first cities to join the Open House program which is not a surprise considering its incredible legacy of jaw-droppingly amazing architecture. We are very excited to be working with Open House to have composers write music inspired by two amazing buildings in Barcelona.
