This little film is the first in the 'A****le' series - performance art shorts about the mutant that modern urban angst creates, the A****le in all of us trying to get out, the monster that sometimes wants to start screaming out loud for no visible reason on the subway. Anyone can relate to and maybe even identify with A****le, whose unfettered behavior is a bald expression of the kind of anxiety that we all experience from time to time. sylviatoyindustries, a San Francisco based artist whose performance art career began in grungy black boxes way off the beaten path to legitimate theater, brings grungy, sweaty, crazy-out-of-her-mind humor to the international Internet art world through A****le, an aluminum helmeted and sometimes gauntleted creature who is possibly a human female. But more than likely, A****le is a monster who, like Mr. Hyde, has morphed from angsty emotions and desires. A****le's place is not in her/its accepted place in society. A****le is not a prisoner in the urban landscape - she/it revels in the trash on the street, the outdoor smells and manmade stink, the graffiti. Yes, if you need a translation of all that graffiti, if you want to know what it means before you paint over it, if you really do seek the truth about society - about yourself - take a runnn with A****le. Outdoors: shot on a Flip Ultra; indoors: shot on a Canon HG 10. The walls are by anonymous grafitti artists in San Francisco, California (along Market Street between Van Ness & Gough Streets).
