Naama Tsabar in an Artis Commissioned Performance at X Initiative, June 2010
Naama Tsabar is an installation and performance artist; she was born in 1982 in Israel and currently resides in New York.
The roots of Tsabar's works are to be found in concert halls and nightlife. Using everyday materials, such as the gaffers tape and rubber floor mats, she forms experiential and conceptual charged installations, exploring questions of power, eroticism, gender and memory.
Tsabar received her B.Ed from Hamidrasha School of the Arts, and is currently finishing her M.F.A. in Visual Art at Columbia University.
Solo exhibitions include: Pianissimo Gallery, Milan (2009), Art Basel (2008), Dvir Gallery, Tel Aviv (2007), Herziliya Museum for Contemporary Art (2006), and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (2010).
Selected group exhibitions include: the Fisher Landau Center (2010), Haifa Museum (2009), X Initiative, New York (2009), Bucharest Biennale (2008), Art Focus, Israel (2008), Casino Luxembourg Institute for Contemporary Art (2008), Dvir Gallery, Israel (2007), Gordon Gallery, Israel (2005), and Sommer Gallery, Israel (2004).
