A collection of the "best" sketches from Off the Wall, a short sketch program made for Annapolis Sr. High's Friday morning closed-circuit tv show, "Pantherama".
There were at least three full episodes that aired in the Fall of 1990, with a fourth "lost" episode that was filmed but never completed. This short compilation features the sketches that make the creators cringe the least as they look back to their innocent comedy youth.
Heavily influenced by Monty Python and SCTV, it can be sort of fascinating to see how Granger & Greeley adopt the parts of absurdist sketch that they understand (the recurring characters, the lack of fear at appearing silly) and bypass the parts they don't (pacing, humor, set up and payoff, etc.).
However, there can be no contention that the countdown in the beginning of the clip is anything but spectacular.
This clip is full of the glorious tracking issues, video hits, gamma shift, and overall degradation found on 20 year-old VHS tape.
