This desk was given to us after my father-in-law passed away in 1993. He was the chauffeur for Mr. William Tate for a few years and upon Mr. Tate's death, his brother gave my father-in-law the desk in memory of him. As far as know, the desk was purchased in Chicago for $257.54 in 1927. The desk has survived through coal dust and cold winters and will be passed along to the next generation. Antique lovers might enjoy seeing the craftsmanship of years gone by.
