UPDATED: SECOND DEMOLITION AND SLOW MOTION OF EXPLOSIONS ON JAN. 10 AND JAN. 14 ADDED TO VIDEO. NEW SECTION BEGINS AT 3:22. The old Antlers Bridge came tumbling down...well, most of it anyway. Caltrans District 2 and contractor Tutor-Saliba had Interstate 5 closed Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, while Dykon Blasting Corp. set charges to bring down the bridge in Lakehead. Charges were set off on the north end of the bridge first, moving south in a total time of one-and-a-half seconds. But the charges failed to take down the fifth span on the south end of the bridge. Caltrans said wet weather played a factor. A second demolition to take down the remaining part of the bridge occurred on Jan. 14. Video and Still Photos: Craig Harrington.
