Stemmer (in Danish) or Voices (in English) present 20 minutes documentary of the shared story between the people of US Virgin Island and Danes.
Five people from US Virgin Island reflect on Danish colonial past and elaborate on how slavery and 'family ties' between the two effect present mentality of the people on the Islands. This short film points to Denmark’s role in acknowledging the hidden atrocity of race and slavery, and it reflects on the power of cultural conciliation. Culture-aware approaches contribute to understanding, dialogue and form peaceful relations. What lessons can we draw from the successes cultural diplomacy in fostering reconciliation?
